What is an unvented hot water cylinder?

An unvented hot water cylinder is a pressurised system. This is fed directly from the cold mains water feed and hot water to be delivered at mains pressure. This is great because a water storage tank is not required and water can be heated via either an immersion heater, the central heating system or even through heat pumps. It is also very important to know that an unvented cylinder needs an expansion vessel fitted so that the expansion of water in the system as it heats up. It is essential it is essential that an unvented hot water cylinder is installed by a G3 qualified installer.
